Description
Financial Planner
Location: Essex & Hertfordshire – predominantly Chelmsford
Salary: £50,000 – £95,000 OTE + benefits
Working Pattern: Hybrid / Flexible
Employment Type: Permanent
We are working with a growing independent financial planning business that is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Planner to take responsibility for an established and manageable client bank.
This is an excellent opportunity for an adviser who wants to focus on quality financial planning and building long-term client relationships, rather than spending their time prospecting for new business or building a client bank from scratch.
You will inherit an established portfolio of clients and have the support of experienced paraplanners and administrators, allowing you to concentrate on delivering excellent advice and developing existing relationships.
The Role
As an Independent Financial Adviser, you will take ownership of an existing portfolio of clients across Essex and Hertfordshire, with the majority of your time based from the firm's Chelmsford office.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting annual and interim client reviews, both face-to-face and remotely
- Providing holistic independent financial advice across pensions, investments, retirement planning, protection, tax-efficient planning and estate/IHT planning
- Understanding clients' objectives, circumstances, risk profiles and capacity for loss, and adapting financial plans accordingly
- Using cash-flow modelling to support the financial planning and client discussion process
- Identifying additional planning opportunities naturally arising from client reviews and changes in clients' circumstances
- Developing and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships
- Ensuring advice is delivered to a consistently high standard and in line with regulatory requirements
- Working closely with the firm's paraplanning and administration teams
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced, client-focused adviser who enjoys the relationship and planning side of financial advice.
You will ideally have:
- Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning
- Current Statement of Professional Standing (SPS)
- Previous experience in a client-facing financial planning or advisory role
- Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments and retirement planning
- A good understanding of investment and pension providers and platforms
- Experience using cash-flow modelling and confidence incorporating it into client conversations
- Excellent communication and relationship-management skills
- A genuine client-first approach, with a focus on delivering positive long-term outcomes
- Strong regulatory awareness and attention to detail
What's On Offer?
In return, you'll join a growing independent business where you can focus on doing what you do best – providing quality financial advice and developing meaningful, long-term client relationships.
The package includes:
- OTE earnings of £50,000 – £95,000
- Annual performance-related bonus based on areas including:
- Client service and retention
- Quality and compliance
- Growth in assets under advice
- Additional advice opportunities within the existing client bank
- Overall contribution to the business
- Employer pension contribution
- Flexible and hybrid working
- Full paraplanning and administration support
- Support towards achieving Chartered status
- Continued professional development
- Potential for future equity participation for exceptional long-term performers
Why This Opportunity?
This role could be particularly attractive to an adviser who is looking for a move away from the pressure of constantly generating their own new business.
You'll have an established client bank from day one, with the infrastructure and support around you to deliver high-quality independent financial planning. There is also genuine long-term progression available, including the potential for equity participation for those who make a significant contribution to the continued growth of the business.
