Description

We are currently recruiting for a boutique Financial Planning practice based in London that are looking for a Compliance Manager and then after 12 months the person would become a statutory Director and take on SMF16 and SMF17. The company is directly authorised and not a part of a network.

They are looking for someone could see themselves making a 5 to 10 year commitment to grow the firm with them from its current size of £130m AUM to £500m over that time period. The Managing Director is thinking of retirement in the next 10 years but they are looking for a business leader who will work alongside me as one of the senior people in the company. Although a small team at present, they have room for 15 staff in their current office and would look to grow from 8 staff to that size over the next 4-5 years, if necessary, to accommodate that increase in AUM.

The Role

The objective of this role is to manage regulatory requirements, identify and manage business risks and the implementation of compliance 'best practice’.

Responsibilities

Compliance

  • Ensuring the business continues to meet its threshold conditions;
  • Producing an annual compliance report;
  • Making all appropriate notifications to regulators;
  • Managing Approved Persons Controlled Functions including: commencement, withdrawal and amendments;
  • Ensuring that the fitness and propriety of all Approved Persons is reviewed on an annual basis; and
  • Communicating compliance developments that have a direct impact on the Financial Planning team.

External Relationships

  • Managing the company relationships with external regulators and consultants; and
  • Managing relationships with Discretionary Fund Managers and relevant third parties.
  • Researching, evaluating and improving processes, systems, controls, policies and templates which will improve efficiencies of the advice process;
  • Ensuring the business keeps up to date KPI data and management information; and
  • Ensuring findings from member file reviews are recorded as part of the business’ management information and reacted to, where necessary.

The role holder may be required to travel for member meetings and may be required to undertake
reasonable additional or other duties as are necessary to meet the needs of the business or work outside of
office hours to meet deadlines.

Authorities

  • Authority to access the Business Management System;
  • FCA Controlled Function CF1 (Director);
  • FCA Controlled Function CF10 (Compliance Oversight);
  • FCA Controlled Function CF11 (Money Laundering Reporting Officer); and
  • Member of the Investment Committee.

Qualifications

  • Entry qualifications: Level 6 qualification and Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
